It's been a while since we planted a flag in Palo Alto. But then neighborhood upstart Tesla went public and released that banging new Roadster; and local behemoth Facebook at least pretended to care about privacy concerns ... and, well ... Palo Alto, we just couldn't quit you. On the contrary, we'll be embracing you and your luscious weather by holding this month's event at a gorgeous outdoor venue: Bistro 412. Come tip a glass or two with your fellow young alumni. Quick -- before we lose our nerve and relocate back north.
Happy Hour until 8 pm!

Americano
7.7.10 | Americano -- This July marked the 43rd anniversary of San Francisco's "Summer of Love." Didn't see it coming? Don't worry. We did. And to show you some love of our own, we snagged a venue with an outdoor patio that looks out on the majestic sweep of the Bay Bridge. Because everyone looks good in afternoon light. Yes, even pasty dot-com'ers. That's why we came out and soaked up some love among our fellow TIPSsters. It's what Haight-Ashbury 1.0 would have wanted. Circa
6.10.10 | Circa -- This being the Bay Area, it's a decent bet you're reading this on your iPad. That being the case, we commemorated the launch of that luscious piece of hardware by hosting this event at a place that takes design almost as seriously as the folks in Cupertino. We're talking about Circa -- the restaurant lounge designed by Michael Brennan, the artistic powerhouse behind some of San Fran's most beautiful restaurants, including including Cortez, Jardiniere, Farallon, Le Petit Robert and Tartare. We put down our iPads and came out to mix it up with some friends in real life. Because there's no app for that. Click on any of the thumbnails below to launch a photo slideshow.

Manor West
5.20.10 | Manor West -- Yes, we're aware: When May time rolls around in San Francisco, it's hard to think about anything else besides donning a pink gorilla suit for the Bay to Breakers race. Well we kept the gorilla suits handy after the race and brought them with us to this month's TIPS bash. It was a funky contrast to the slick, swanky atmosphere of our venue: Manor West. There we were able to regale our friends with tales of running through 27 San Francisco micro-climates over the course of the race. Sloane
4.29.10 | Sloane -- We know, we know: It was a traumatic week: Creaky cable car lines were getting shut down for months at a time and marijuana-legalization went going on the ballot. But in the meantime TIPS had a party to promote: We went to Sloane, a place that's not quite a bar, not quite a club, not quite an Unobtanium mine. We came out and tossed back a few drinks with some of our fellow young alumni. Click on any of the thumbnails below to launch a photo slideshow.

Olivia Fox Cabane Presentation
4.21.10 | Olivia Fox Cabane Presentation -- You never get a second chance to make a great first impression; so you'd better get it right the first time. TIPS wants helped you out on that score: We secured Forbes columnist and internationally renowned speaker Olivia Fox Cabane for her keynote presentation: The Science of Trust, Influence and Persuasion. This workshop covered the science of charisma; the keys to making fantastic first impressions, and the secrets to having that "boardroom presence" to quickly establish credibility, trust, and rapport. Cellar360
3.25.10 | Cellar360 -- TIPS shook things up this month with an entirely new party format: Wine Tasting! We swilled away at Cellar360, a mecca to all things vino in Fisherman's Wharf. We impressed people with our expertise of mid-century vintages from Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Montrachet. And those of us who have never paid more than $2 for a bottle (2 Buck Chuck @ Trader Joe's) dropped on by to see what the people in "Sideways" were going on about. While sampling the various fares, we also enjoyed breath-taking views of the bay and Alcatraz. Click on any of the thumbnails below to launch a photo slideshow.

The Republic
2.23.10 | The Republic -- With all the talk about Valentine's Day, February made for a lousy month to sit at home alone in front of your computer, watching re-runs of The Office on Hulu, using WiFi that you were stealing from your upstairs neighbor, whom you'd never had the courage to say 'hello' to. TIPS offered an alternative to that self-imposed solipsism: A party with your fellow young alumni in a new Pacific Heights eatery. So we put our MacBook to sleep, dragged a comb across your hair, and meet up with friends old and new at The Republic! Click on any of the thumbnails below to see the all the pictures.

Project One
1.27.10 | Project One -- A new decade dawned, and TIPS continued to shake things up. We threw our monthly bash at an art gallery / dance space with trappings guaranteed to start the 2010s off with a jolt: eye-popping 3-D paintings, multimedia art installations, and a massive dance floor. What's more, we had drink specials all night (think Soju-infused pink lemonade and a half dozen variations on mojitos). It was the perfect way to trade stories with your fellow young alums about Christmas bonuses wasted and New Year's resolutions broken.

The Parlor
12.09.09 | The Parlor -- We kicked it with our friends while kicking back some aid to those in need -- by coming on out for The Ivy Plus Society Holiday Benefit Party. All proceeds benefited Youth and Family Enrichment Services, a regional nonprofit that helps children, youths and adults build life skills and attain self-sufficiency. Knowing that our door fee went to a good cause made the yummy desserts taste even better. And if the recession had us mumbling a bit of 'bah, humbug,' this was just the thing we needed to kick our better instincts into gear. Taverna Aventine
10.24.09 | Taverna Aventine -- With the city’s economy starting to show some spunk again, there was no better time to party it up at a Gold Rush-era pleasure den. For our October event, TIPS reveled at Taverna Aventine, a Barbary Coast-inspired social club that took the edge off any of our lingering economic woes — at least for a night. We joined our fellow alumni for a romp through San Francisco’s nautical history and soaked up old world stylings while sipping on classic cocktails.
Melt
9.24.09 | Melt -- For our September party, we headed to Palo Alto for some fab Silicon Valley networking and connecting. We had a terrific turnout at our first Silicon Valley party in June and had an even bigger group this time -- full of VC execs, entrepreneurs, other business/tech leaders, and, most importantly, just a group of fun, fabulous folks! Matrix
8.28.09 | SF: Matrix -- TIPS finally made it out to the Marina on Friday to the classic haunt, Matrix. Matrix has been hot for some time and did not disappoint. The low mood lighting, the fashionable crowd (that’s you!) and the great drink specials kept the party rocking in to the night. Click on the thumbnails below to launch the slideshow of the night’s fun.
Enrico's
7.23.09 | Enrico's -- The TIPS summer line up continued at the classic SF haunt, Enrico’s. On a cool summer night, TIPsters mingled and warmed up inside with stiff drinks and yummy nibbles. Out on the patio under the heat lamps was a good spot for intimate conversations. Click on the photos below to check out all of the beautiful and talented TIPSers.
W Hotel
6.25.09 | W Hotel -- Summer has arrived and it was time to celebrate at the W Hotel with our favorite TIPS crew. Sophisticated and slick, hip and modern, the W was the perfect place to mingle, enjoy the summer night and drink some fruity drinks. Click on the photos below to check out all of the beautiful and talented TIPSers.
Four Seasons- Palo Alto
6.11.09 | Four Seasons -- Poolside cocktails at the Four Seasons in Silicon Valley was the perfect midweek networking break. With the sun shining and the drinks flowing, our first Silicon Valley event was the perfect way to kick off the summer season.

Harlot
4.23.09 | Harlot -- We chased away the economic blues at Harlot, a sublime SOMA haunt that wowed us with its fantastic drinks and intoxicating 16-foot ceilings. Another laughing, shining TIPS night. Check out all the fabulous TIPSsters by clicking on the thumbnails below to launch the slideshow of event pics.
Supper Club
3.27.09 | Supper Club-- We said Supper Club needed to be experienced and what an experience it was. For our March TIPS event, we slipped into Spring amidst the disco balls, the performance shows (opera anyone?), groovy music and all of our favorite TIPS alums. Check out all the night's fun by clicking on the thumbnails below to launch the slideshow of event pics.

Station House
2.28.09 | Station House -- For our February party, we rocked Station House – a fantastic, private venue that we had all to ourselves. Shimmering walls of lights and art, fantastic music, yummy cocktails, helped us kick off a great Friday night. Click on the photos below to check out all of the beautiful and talented TIPS friends.
111 Minna Gallery
1.29.09 | 111 Minna Gallery -- This month we shook off the post holiday winter blues and kicked 2009 into high gear with our favorite TIPsters. 111 Minna with its thought provoking art this gallery/bar/lounge was the perfect place to get our conversation on. Can't wait to see everyone next month. Click below for more pictures.
